Jack's Gift
By: Tidota Eru
Jack the pumpkin sat alone, in the field that was his home.
It was Halloween, the full moon up above shined eerie and bright.
Bats took wing, screeching, excited for their nightly flight.
Werewolves howled, and gargoyles screamed.
Gravestones sang. Vampires hissed, looking mean.
Ghosts moaned as the sound of old floorboards creaked.
A lonely witch had just stepped out of her house to sweep.
While at work, the witch noticed Jack all alone in the field.
Away from the fun, looking sad, with no scary purpose to fulfill.
An idea forming, the witch thought that, by using her magic, she would give Jack a hand, making him the scariest pumpkin in the land.
A light lit up inside of Jack, and made his face burn bright. Shadows jumped as the monsters screamed, running away from the frightening sight.
Jack laughed at their fear, and smiled, admiring his new gift. Joy overflowed, giving his previous, dead spirit a lift.
The witch smiled at her good deed, and went back into her house to say...
"Nothing better than a pumpkin to keep the monsters away!"
